Mimbres Pottery

The Mimbres lived along the Mimbres River on the west side of the Black Range from about 1800 BP to 900 BP.  By 1200 BP their distinctive pottery styles; black on white and “Mimbres Boldface” (designs based on the fauna of their area) had evolved to sophisticated levels of artistry which is still copied today.  They inhabited areas of the Gila and the east side of the Black Range as well.  The Mimbres Pottery Images Digital Database (part of The Digital Archaeological Record) has over 9,000 images of Mimbres ceramics.
